Elementary

International Student Exchange Services has programs specifically geared toward creating an international experience for elementary and middle school aged students. Our 2-3 week summer and winter camps and 2-3 month classroom experiences give American students an opportunity to learn from and interact with children their own age who come from vastly different backgrounds and cultural norms. Participating Chinese students are afforded a chance to visit and study in America without being away from home for too long. These interactions help to create an attitude of curiosity and acceptance toward unfamiliar ideas and cultures in young children.

At ISES, we work hard to bring each of our participating schools more than just a student exchange program. We help build international partnerships that will benefit your school, students and community for years to come. These benefits are not only educational and cultural, but financial as well.

Give more to your students:
Hosting an international educational program demonstrates a forward-thinking philosophy in today’s world of growing international relations. Faculty will be able to share ideas and teaching methods with a Chinese sister school enabling them to present students with a more diverse learning experience. ISES can even arrange teacher exchanges to further increase a school’s exposure to Chinese education and culture. The inclusion of Chinese students in American classrooms and other activities contributes to a breakdown of cultural barriers and stereotypes while providing students a firsthand international experience well beyond anything a textbook could offer.

You have options:
At International Student Exchange Services, we understand that no one program can fit the needs of each and every school we serve. That’s why we offer two different types of programs for elementary and middle schools to choose from, both of which can be specially tailored to fit the needs of every unique school, community and student body. Give kids from both countries a little taste of different cultures with a two week camp, or offer students an extended classroom experience. Either way, our specialists will ensure that everyone reaps the benefits of a distinctive international program.

Each program has its benefits:

1. Summer or Winter Camp (2-3 weeks)
• Short term makes it a good way to start an international program
• Helps maintain student relations and interaction over break periods
• Exposes children to a foreign language and culture
• Provides sightseeing tours of the areas surrounding your community
• Free for American students to attend alongside Chinese students

2. Classroom Experience (2-3 months)
• Offers prolonged exposure to Chinese culture and language for faculty and students
• Enables faculty to create lesson plans and activities to include Chinese culture and holidays
• Gives students an opportunity to build relationships and make lifelong friends
